GoDaddy Email: Plans, Year-Two Prices and Better Options

WebZum Team•November 3, 2026•13 min read

TL;DR: GoDaddy email is Microsoft 365, sold and billed by GoDaddy. The cheapest plan, Microsoft 365 Email Essentials, shows $1.99 per mailbox a month “For 1st 1-year term” next to a crossed-out $8.99, with 10 GB of storage (GoDaddy, checked November 3, 2026). When we added it to the cart, the only term offered was 12 months, with “You pay $23.88 today.” It auto-renews at GoDaddy’s “then-current renewal rate,” and annual plans can only be refunded in the first 7 days. Microsoft’s own email-only plan is $4 a user per month, paid yearly, with 50 GB. Moving your domain doesn’t move your email. In our check of 59 local businesses with domains registered at GoDaddy, only 10 got their email from GoDaddy. WebZum doesn’t sell mailboxes, but on Professional ($34/mo) you can add any email provider’s records to your domain by pasting them into chat.

What is GoDaddy email?

GoDaddy email is Microsoft 365 that GoDaddy resells, bills and supports. GoDaddy calls it “Microsoft 365 from GoDaddy.” You get an Outlook mailbox at your own domain, like you@yourbusiness.com, but your account, billing and support all live at GoDaddy, not Microsoft.

GoDaddy sells four plans on its business email page. All four include “Up to 300 email aliases,” such as sales@ or info@ going to one inbox, and GoDaddy promises a “7-day money-back guarantee” (GoDaddy). Its FAQ also says “Select hosting plans include professional email for the first year,” so check whether you already have a mailbox before you buy one.

Long-time customers may still be on GoDaddy’s older Workspace email. GoDaddy’s FAQ asks them to call to switch to Microsoft 365.

How much does GoDaddy email cost?

From $1.99 to $11.99 per mailbox a month for the first year, then the higher list price. Here are the four plans as GoDaddy’s page showed them on November 3, 2026 (US prices, before tax):

Plan First-year price Crossed-out list price Storage What else
Microsoft 365 Email Essentials $1.99/mailbox/mo $8.99 10 GB Email, calendar, contacts
Email Plus with Security $5.99/mailbox/mo $9.99 50 GB Adds Advanced Email Security
Secure Online Essentials $10.99/mailbox/mo $14.99 50 GB Adds web Office apps and Teams
Secure Business Professional $11.99/mailbox/mo $19.99 50 GB Adds desktop Office apps on 5 devices, Teams

Source: GoDaddy Professional Business Email, checked November 3, 2026. Email Backup ($1.99/mo) and Email Archiving ($4.99/mo) are optional add-ons on every plan.

The monthly number isn’t what you pay at checkout. The fine print says “monthly price offers may require annual or multi-year purchase paid in advance.” We clicked Add to Cart on each plan, logged out, from a US browser. Each one offered a single term, 12 months, and showed the full year due today: $23.88 for Email Essentials, $71.88 for Email Plus with Security, $131.88 for Secure Online Essentials and $143.88 for Secure Business Professional, per mailbox. The next step, GoDaddy’s cart, returned “Access Denied” to our automated browser, so we didn’t see taxes or any add-ons it might pre-select.

GoDaddy also sells a 12-month plan billed monthly in the US. That one carries an early cancellation fee if you cancel within 180 days: $10 for Email Essentials, $20 for Email Plus with Security, $40 for Secure Online Essentials and $60 for Secure Business Professional (GoDaddy Help).

What happens after the first year?

It renews on its own, at a higher price, and the refund window is short.

  • Auto-renew is on. GoDaddy’s Microsoft 365 terms say your email subscriptions “will auto-renew unless you timely opt out” (GoDaddy Microsoft 365 Terms of Use, last revised July 22, 2024).
  • The intro price ends. The email page’s fine print says that “After the initial purchase term, discounted products will renew at the then-current renewal rate until cancelled.” GoDaddy doesn’t print a renewal number next to the plans, so the crossed-out list price is the best guide. At $8.99, one Email Essentials mailbox goes from $23.88 in year one to $107.88 in year two.
  • You get 7 days to change your mind. GoDaddy’s refund policy says “Annual plans for Microsoft M365 products are refundable during the first 7 days (168 hours).” Monthly plans get 48 hours, and the clock restarts on the renewal date (GoDaddy Refund Policy, last revised September 14, 2026). The updated policy some customers moved to on October 15, 2026 keeps the same 7 days and 48 hours for “an initial purchase or renewal” (GoDaddy updated refund policy).

To stop a renewal, go to Renewals and Billing, then Manage Subscriptions, then Cancel Plan. You keep the email until the end date. After that date, GoDaddy says, “your product and all associated data will be deleted” (GoDaddy Help). So export your mail before that day.

Which email do GoDaddy-registered businesses actually use?

Mostly not GoDaddy’s. We checked the public records of 59 small businesses whose domains are registered at GoDaddy, and only 10 of them got their email from GoDaddy.

How we did it. On November 3, 2026 we pulled 141 independent local businesses with a website from OpenStreetMap in Albuquerque, Omaha and Richmond, Virginia: law offices, salons, vets, real estate and insurance agents, roofers, cleaners and other trades. The registry’s public records (RDAP) showed 59 of those domains were registered at GoDaddy. For each one we read the mail (MX) records and asked Microsoft’s public sign-in lookup which kind of account the domain uses. Domains whose Microsoft 365 was bought through GoDaddy send their sign-ins to a GoDaddy page, so you can tell them apart from Microsoft 365 bought direct. It’s a small sample from three cities, not a random survey, and we’re not naming the businesses.

Where the email goes Domains (of 59)
Google Workspace 16
Microsoft 365 bought somewhere other than GoDaddy 12
Microsoft 365 bought through GoDaddy 6
GoDaddy’s older email servers 4
Their web host or their own mail server 8
A spam filter in front, mailbox provider unclear 2
Points at Microsoft, but no Microsoft 365 account found 1
No email on the domain at all 10

What stood out:

  1. The registrar and the email are separate choices. Of the 49 domains with email, 39 used something other than GoDaddy. Microsoft 365 (18, both kinds) and Google Workspace (16) covered most of them.
  2. Microsoft 365 is usually bought direct. Of the 18 Microsoft 365 setups we could confirm, 12 were not bought through GoDaddy.
  3. Old GoDaddy setups linger. Two domains still had a Microsoft 365 account created through GoDaddy while their mail went somewhere else. GoDaddy itself notes that moving your email “does not release your domain from your Microsoft tenant,” so a leftover account can get in the way if you later sign up with Microsoft directly.
  4. Ten businesses had no email on their domain at all. Whatever address they use, it isn’t their own name.

Quick self-check: if signing in to Outlook on the web sends you to a GoDaddy sign-in page, your Microsoft 365 was bought through GoDaddy.

What does GoDaddy email cost over 36 months?

For one Email Essentials mailbox, about $239.64, if it renews at the $8.99 list price. That’s more than Microsoft charges directly for its own email-only plan, which has five times the storage.

Plan Storage per user 1 mailbox 3 mailboxes 5 mailboxes
GoDaddy Email Essentials ($1.99 year one, then $8.99 list) 10 GB $239.64 $718.92 $1,198.20
GoDaddy Email Plus with Security ($5.99, then $9.99 list) 50 GB $311.64 $934.92 $1,558.20
Microsoft Exchange Online Plan 1, direct ($4, paid yearly) 50 GB $144.00 $432.00 $720.00
Microsoft 365 Business Basic, direct ($7, paid yearly) 100 GB $252.00 $756.00 $1,260.00
Google Workspace Business Starter ($7, 1-year commitment) 30 GB pooled $252.00 $756.00 $1,260.00
Zoho Mail Lite ($1, billed yearly) 5 GB $36.00 $108.00 $180.00

Cost over 36 months at list prices before tax. Sources, all checked November 3, 2026: GoDaddy, Microsoft Exchange plans, Microsoft 365 Business Basic, Google Workspace, Zoho Mail. The math is ours.

A few notes so the table is fair:

  • Microsoft direct shows Business Basic at “$7.00 user/month, paid yearly,” or $8.40 a month with a monthly subscription. Business Basic adds Teams, web Office apps and 1 TB of OneDrive. Exchange Online Plan 1 is email only, like GoDaddy’s Email Essentials.
  • Google charges $8.40 a user per month on its Flexible Plan, which you can cancel any time (Google Workspace Help). Google’s pricing page also showed a new-customer discount, which we left out.
  • Zoho has no monthly option on Mail Lite. Its Forever Free plan covers “one domain for up to 5 users” with 5 GB each, but “IMAP/ POP/ Active Sync not included,” so you’d use Zoho’s apps rather than the iPhone Mail app or Outlook.

For the step-by-step setup of any of these, see how to get a business email.

What happens to GoDaddy email if you move your domain or website?

Moving the domain or the website doesn’t move or cancel your email. Your mail records have to come along, though, and leaving GoDaddy’s email is a separate job.

  • New website, same domain. Your email keeps working as long as its MX, TXT and CNAME records stay in your domain’s DNS. If your new website company takes over the DNS, those records must be copied there first. Our GoDaddy domain guide covers the two ways to point a GoDaddy domain at another site.
  • Domain moved to another registrar. The mailboxes stay put. GoDaddy’s help center says that if another company manages your domain or DNS, “you need to update your DNS settings,” and to remove any old SPF or MX records before adding GoDaddy’s (GoDaddy Help). Our guide to transferring a domain from GoDaddy covers the transfer itself.
  • Leaving GoDaddy email but keeping Microsoft. You can’t do this alone from your dashboard. You contact a GoDaddy Guide, your plans must be active and “don’t expire within the next 5 business days,” and “Your Microsoft 365 plans or licenses bought through GoDaddy won’t transfer to Microsoft.” GoDaddy also warns: “Do not purchase new mailboxes directly from Microsoft or another reseller until your move is finished,” because that creates a new account that can’t be merged (GoDaddy Help).
  • Domain expires. GoDaddy’s terms say it can suspend the email until the domain is renewed. Its expiration timeline says that 5 days after expiry “any connected website or email will stop working,” and that “Renewing your domain doesn’t renew your website or email” (GoDaddy Help).

Should you keep GoDaddy email or switch?

Keep it if it works, you have one or two mailboxes, and you like one company to call. GoDaddy’s 24/7 support is a real part of what the higher price buys.

Switch at renewal time if you have several mailboxes, want more than 10 GB, or already pay Google or Microsoft for something else. Do it in this order: set up the new provider, copy your mail over, change the records, test for a few days, then cancel GoDaddy. Don’t cancel first, because GoDaddy deletes the data after the end date.

Where does WebZum fit?

WebZum builds your website. It doesn’t sell email, and it doesn’t care which provider you pick.

On Professional ($34/mo, month to month), your site runs on your own domain. Either WebZum registers a .com for you, or you connect one you already own, including one at GoDaddy. When you connect a domain, we copy your email records over before the switch, so your current email keeps working in most cases. DKIM keys with random names, like the ones Amazon SES or Postmark use, can’t be found automatically, so you’d add those yourself.

After that, you can add or change your own DNS records (MX, TXT, CNAME and more) in the WebZum editor, or paste Google’s, Microsoft’s or Zoho’s setup table into the chat and say “add these records.” So you can move from GoDaddy email to Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 direct or Zoho without leaving WebZum. The records that point your domain at your website stay locked, so editing an email record doesn’t touch the ones your site depends on.

Frequently asked questions

What is GoDaddy email?

It’s Microsoft 365 email resold by GoDaddy, sold per mailbox in four plans from $1.99 a month for the first year. You get Outlook at your own domain, with billing and support through GoDaddy.

How much is GoDaddy email per month?

Email Essentials is $1.99 per mailbox a month for the first year, paid as $23.88 up front, with a crossed-out list price of $8.99 (GoDaddy, checked November 3, 2026). Plans with more storage and Office apps run $5.99 to $11.99 in year one.

Does GoDaddy give free email with a domain?

Not with a domain on its own. GoDaddy’s FAQ says “Select hosting plans include professional email for the first year.” After that year, it’s a paid plan.

If I transfer my domain away from GoDaddy, will my email stop working?

Not if the mail records move with it. The mailboxes stay at GoDaddy, so the new DNS host needs GoDaddy’s MX, TXT and CNAME records before the switch. Moving the email itself to Microsoft or another provider is a separate process with GoDaddy’s support team.

Can I use Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 with a WebZum website?

Yes. WebZum doesn’t sell mailboxes, but on Professional ($34/mo) you can add any provider’s records to your domain in the editor, or paste them into chat. If you bring a domain that already has email, we copy those records over when you connect it.

Your email is fine. Look at the site.

Most businesses in our check already had email sorted. What customers see first is the website the domain opens. Give WebZum a few answers about your business, and in about five minutes you’ll have an agency-quality, multi-page site for far less than an agency would charge. It’s free to look at. Keep your email where it is, point your domain at the site on Professional for $34 a month, month to month, with a 30-day money-back guarantee.
