TL;DR: The Wix AI website builder (now part of the Wix Harmony editor) turns a prompt into a starter site, and then you finish it yourself, by hand or by asking Wix’s AI agent, Aria. It’s free to start; going live on your own domain starts at $17/mo billed yearly. If you’d rather have the whole site built for you, WebZum asks a few questions and builds a finished multi-page site in about five minutes, with written copy, photos and a visitor chatbot already on it. You can see yours free before you pay, and plans are $19/mo or $34/mo, month to month.

What is the Wix AI website builder?
It’s the prompt-to-site starting point inside Wix. You describe the site you want, Wix generates a first version, and you keep editing it in the Wix Harmony editor.
Wix launched Harmony on January 21, 2026 as its “new flagship AI website builder,” combining what it calls vibe coding with drag-and-drop editing (Wix press release). The AI part is Aria, which Wix describes as an agent that can handle “simple tasks like updating color palettes to complex ones like redesigning an entire page or adding commerce capabilities” (same source). Wix said Harmony would roll out in English first and reach all users gradually.
Wix’s own product page sums it up as: describe what you want, then “customize anything by hand or with Aria, your built-in AI agent” (Wix AI website builder).
A couple of things that are easy to miss:
- It replaced Wix ADI. “As of November 10th 2024, Wix no longer supports sites created using the ADI (Artificial Design Intelligence) builder,” and it’s “not possible to go back to ADI” (Wix Help). If an older guide tells you to use ADI, it’s out of date.
- It runs on Wix’s own model now. In its Q1 2026 results, Wix said Harmony is “now running on its own proprietary AI model” (Wix Q1 2026 results).
- Wix tells you to check its work. Its help center says Aria “may produce unexpected or inaccurate results. Always review Aria’s suggestions or changes before finalizing your site” (Wix Help).
Is the Wix AI website builder free?
You can build for free, but a live business site isn’t. Wix says Harmony “is fully integrated into every Wix plan, including the free plan,” with no extra editor fee (Wix Blog).
The catch is the same as always on Wix: the free plan keeps Wix branding and a Wix address. A paid plan is what lets you “connect your own domain, remove Wix branding from your site, and more” (Wix plans).
How much does the Wix AI website builder cost?
On the US plans page, Wix lists Light at $17/mo, Core at $29/mo, Business at $39/mo and Business Elite at $159/mo. Wix’s footnote says “displayed prices are for yearly subscriptions, paid in full at the time of purchase,” and that prices “vary by location” (Wix plans, checked October 27, 2026).
Details that change the real price for a local business:
- Bookings aren’t on Light. “Scheduling and services” is listed on Core and up (Wix plans). A salon or a cleaner who wants online booking is looking at $29/mo billed yearly.
- Refunds are short. Wix shows a “14-day money-back guarantee” on its plans page (Wix plans).
- The free domain is for year one. Every paid plan lists a “free domain for 1 year” (Wix plans); after that it renews at the normal rate.
Does Wix AI cost extra? (AI credits explained)
Chatting with Aria to build your site doesn’t. Some of Wix’s other AI tools do, and they run on monthly AI credits.
Wix’s help center says “Chatting with Aria (Wix’s AI agent) is free and does not use AI credits.” Tools like Smart Chat (a visitor chatbot), the AI Marketing Agent and the AI Phone Agent use credits (Wix Help: About AI credits). Wix estimates Smart Chat at “up to 150” actions a month on Light, 200 on Core and 300 on Business, and the phone agent at about 75 calls a month on Light (same source).
Three rules from that page worth knowing before you count on those tools:
- Credits refresh monthly “and any unused credits from the previous month expire.”
- Free plans get daily credits, “up to a maximum of 120 credits per month.”
- “Wix reserves the right at any time to change the credit cost, the number of credits required for using AI features, and the AI tools that use credits.”
So for a busy shop, the chatbot on a Wix site is metered. That’s not a scandal, just something to plan for.
Is the Wix AI website builder any good?
For people who want to design their own site, yes, it’s a capable editor. It’s a website builder first and an AI tool second, which is how independent testers tend to judge these products.
Zapier, which says it tested “more than 50 tools,” put it this way: “the best AI website builders are website builders first, and AI-powered second,” and launching a site “in 30 seconds from a written prompt will never be more than a party trick” (Zapier). Zapier picked Wix for most people and noted you “can spin up a site in less than an hour” once you replace the stock text and images (same source).
That last part is the real question for a business owner. Wix’s AI gets you a draft fast. Turning it into your site, with your services, your town, your hours and photos that look like your business, is still your job.
What does a done-for-you AI builder do differently?
It does the finishing too. Here’s what that looked like on our own demo builds this month, recorded on screen. These are WebZum demo businesses, not customer sites.
- The build. You type a business description or paste a Google link, answer about four questions, and press Build. On our Oak & Vow demo, the build ran about 4 minutes 25 seconds from the click to a finished site with a logo, written copy, photos and several pages.
- A page per service, written for your town. On our Blue Mesa Auto Repair demo (an Albuquerque shop), the builder made a separate page for each main service on its own. The Check Engine Light page got a local headline (“Check Engine Light Diagnostics Near Nob Hill”), a four-step “How We Diagnose” section, a local FAQ (is it safe to drive, what it costs, same-day service) and a call button. Nobody asked it to.
- Fixes in plain words. On that same page we typed “big empty spot next to the how we diagnose part, can u put a pic of a mechanic there.” The editor offered an Add Photos button, and about 42 seconds after one click the page reloaded with a new photo and a matching line of copy. No photo picker, no layout tools.
- A visitor chatbot already on the site. Every WebZum preview has a chatbot at the bottom right. On our salon demo it answered visitor questions in about three to four seconds, used the business’s phone number and hours, and offered to take a name and number for a callback.
- Fast pages. WebZum sites are pre-built pages served from a content delivery network, with no server code running on each page view, so there’s nothing to slow down as you add pages.
If you like designing, that hands-off approach can feel like less control. If you’d rather spend the afternoon on your actual business, that’s the point.
Wix AI vs WebZum: what does each cost over 36 months?
Here’s the plain math at today’s list prices. It leaves out taxes, domain renewals after year one and any price changes, so treat it as a floor.
| Plan | Who builds the site | Listed price | Cost over 36 months | Refund window |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ⭐ WebZum Basic | WebZum builds it, you edit by chat (WebZum address) | $19/mo, month to month | $684 | 30 days, every plan |
| ⭐ WebZum Professional | WebZum builds it, on your own domain | $34/mo, month to month | $1,224 | 30 days, every plan |
| Wix Light | You finish it, with Aria’s help | $17/mo, billed yearly | $612 | 14 days |
| Wix Core (adds bookings) | You finish it, with Aria’s help | $29/mo, billed yearly | $1,044 | 14 days |
| Wix Business | You finish it, with Aria’s help | $39/mo, billed yearly | $1,404 | 14 days |

Wix Light is a few dollars cheaper on paper, and it includes your own domain. What you’re paying for with WebZum is the finished site, the AI photos and video in the header, the chatbot, and not having to learn an editor. You also pay month to month and can cancel without a year up front.
When should you pick Wix instead?
Pick Wix if you want to design the site yourself and enjoy it, if you need online booking or a real online store built in, or if you want to add apps from the Wix App Market later. Those are real strengths, and Wix’s 2,000+ templates and pixel-level control go further than WebZum does on design freedom (Wix AI website builder).
Pick WebZum if you mostly need customers to find you, trust you and call, and you’d rather review a finished site than build one. WebZum can also link out to the booking or payment tool you already use.
How do I get a WebZum site?
- Go to webzum.com/free-website and type what your business does, or paste your Google link.
- Answer a few quick questions. The build takes about five minutes.
- Look through your free preview. Change anything by typing it into the chat box, like “add a page for water heater repair” or “make the colors navy and orange.”
- Pick Basic ($19/mo) or Professional ($34/mo, with your own domain) when you’re ready to keep it.

FAQ
What is the Wix AI website builder?
It’s Wix’s prompt-to-site tool, now part of the Wix Harmony editor. You describe the site, Wix generates a first version, and you finish it by hand or with Wix’s AI agent, Aria (Wix).
Is the Wix AI website builder free?
You can build on the free plan, and Wix says Harmony has no separate fee (Wix Blog). To connect your own domain and remove Wix branding you need a paid plan, from $17/mo billed yearly in the US (Wix plans).
Does Wix AI use credits?
Chatting with Aria doesn’t. Smart Chat, the AI Marketing Agent, the AI Phone Agent and some other tools use monthly AI credits that expire if unused, and Wix can change what they cost (Wix Help).
Is Wix ADI still available?
No. Wix stopped supporting ADI on November 10, 2024 and replaced it with the Wix AI website builder (Wix Help).
Can Wix AI build my whole business website for me?
It builds a first draft fast. You still replace the sample text and images and set up your pages, which Zapier’s tester put at under an hour (Zapier). If you want the finished site done for you, WebZum builds one in about five minutes that you can preview free.
What’s a good alternative to the Wix AI website builder?
If you want to design it yourself, Wix is a strong choice. If you’d rather have a finished site with copy, photos, service pages and a chatbot already done, try WebZum. Plans are $19/mo or $34/mo, month to month, with a 30-day money-back guarantee.
